Canadian Laboratory initiative on Pediatric Reference Intervals (CALIPER)

The Canadian Laboratory Initiative on Pediatric Reference Intervals (CALIPER) is a Canadian initiative that aims to address the gaps that exist in pediatric reference intervals and improve the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of children with medical concerns in Canada and globally.

CALIPER collects basic health information, anthropomorphic measurements, and blood samples from healthy children aged 0-18 years recruited from the multiethnic Canadian community, with more than 12,000 participants recruited.

To date, CALIPER has established age- and sex-specific pediatric reference intervals for hundreds of biochemical markers on a number of analytical platforms. All CALIPER data is freely available on the CALIPER Reference Intervals Database (www.caliperdatabase.ca).
